Athlete of the Month: Goretti Nguyen

We are excited to announce February Athlete of the Month Goretti Nguyen.
Not only is she a full time student in Chiropractic school, Goretti is also one of those dedicated and faithful 5:30am members.  With a busy schedule, she continues to achieve goals in the gym and provides the energy for those morning athletes to feed off of.  Congratulations Goretti.
I am so honored (and surprised) to be chosen for Athlete of the Month. Since joining CrossFit over a year ago, I can say that CrossFit has changed my life in a positive way! I wouldn’t be able to get where I am today in CF without such awesome coaches that we have at CFW!
What were you doing before CrossFit Wilsonville?  Prior to joining CFW I was doing barre fitness (a mix of yoga and Pilates) in St. Louis, MO. I was introduced to CrossFit by my brother, Tony, when I moved back to Oregon to start chiropractic school.
What kind of animal would you consider yourself during a WOD?  I’ve been told that I look like a bunny while doing box jumps.
What is your most favorite or least favorite movements? Wall balls are my nemesis.
What is your pre or post WOD routine? Pre-WOD routine: wake up at 4:30am, make myself a protein shake and pack for school.  Post-WOD routine: wipe off the sweats and tears, and get changed for school, and drinking my protein shake while stuck in I-5 northbound traffic.
What is your biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit? It’s hard to pin down just one... Conquering my fears of overhead squats and snatches, and getting my DU’s (even though they’re not perfect).
What is your favorite WOD? Anything with Oly lifts, burpees and box jumps.
What is some advice you’d give to someone new to CrossFit? Be strong and don’t give up if you’re stuck on a movement... just keep on practicing. Listen to the coaches — they’re here to help you and prevent you from hurting yourself. And most importantly, have fun! The support and friendship that you get from CFW is priceless.
